The best of the best in the adidas 3SSB Circuit were on the court in Rock Hill, South Carolina last week and Team Trae Young’s Jadyn Toppin saw it as an opportunity to ball out.
Toppin averaged 13.5 points per game over the TTY 17U Boys team’s four games at the tournament, second only to Ja’Kobe Walter (17.3 ppg) for the 17U team. He also hauled in 7.8 rebounds per contest and blocked a whopping 16 shots.
Max Feldman of MadeHoops.com took notice, adding Jadyn to his all tournament team after his big week in Rock Hill.
“It’s not all flashy and may not fill up the box score, but Jadyn Toppin’s winning impact was palpable throughout the four days in Rock Hill. A long and wiry versatile four-man with a very strong feel for positioning. A consistent two-way presence with strong defensive processing abilities, a crafty finishing package at the cup and physical upside looking ahead. Quick leaper and a high-impact two-way forward with an ultra malleable skillset.”

2023 sleeper: @teamtraeyoungmb’s Jadyn Toppin.
High activity level, soft touch from 5-10 feet, good hands, good-looking stroke from the FT line. #3SSB

Ja’Kobe Walter scored 20 points and Dink Pate added 10, while Jadyn Toppin complemented his only single digit scoring game of the tournament (9 points) with a 10-rebound, four-block effort. However, Team Loaded pulled out a 60-57 victory.
2024 6’7 G @IAMTHESHOOTER1 is showing off the entire package. Such an advanced feel for a young prospect. Improved handle, reliable jumper put to the three point line and incredible vision and timing on his passes.
His imprint is ALL over this game. pic.twitter.com/7R6kV5FKaK

Team Trae Young’s Dink Pate is going to make someone very happy because of his versatility at the next level.
2024 kid that can dribble, pass, and shoot. Jumpshot needs some tweaks but the tools are definitely there.

The Team Trae 17s bounced back on Thursday with a 65-44 victory over Team Huncho. Toppin led all scorers with 15 points in that contest. Kaden Cooper, who averaged 10 points per game for the tournament caught attention with his athleticism, resulting in multiple steals and blocks. Kieran Eliott added nine points and eight rebounds and Dink Pate posted eight points and six assists, en route to a 6.5 assists per game average for the tournament.
2023 Kaden Cooper has a handful of blocks in this game and every single one of them has been violent. Freak athlete who plays above the rim at both ends of the court. @teamtraeyoungmb #3SSB

Is there a better run and jump athlete in the class than Kaden Cooper.
Soft touch from 3 and had some absolute highlight reel blocks today.
Offers from everywhere.

Friday’s opener was another tight battle, this time with Team Rose, and despite 25 points and 16 assists from Ja’Kobe Walter, and 16 points and nine blocks from Jadyn Toppin, TTY lost 65-63. Later Friday, Walter had 19 points, Toppin added 14 and Pate had nine assists, but NY Jayhawks topped TTY 74-64.
