The culmination of a summer spent grinding on the adidas 3SSB Circuit sent Team Trae Young to Palmetto Road for the 3SSB Championships Chapter III, and a trio of 17U prospects showed up and showed out in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
It was a tough weekend overall for the 17U team, with just one win and four losses, but Doryan Onwuchekwa, Dillon Battie and Carlsheon Young each stood out despite a few defeats.
Onwuchekwa continued his summer break out with a huge tournament, turning heads among scouts and media all weekend.

6-10/2024/C/Doryan Onwuchekwa from Team Trae Young played really well vs Flory Bidunga of Indiana Elite.
Good Pace. Slow to Quick post moves. Soft Mitts and Touch. @3SSBCircuit #3SSBChampionships

6’11” 2024 Doryan Onwuchekwa (@teamtraeyoungmb) is a supremely skilled frontcourt prospect.
Deep bag of tricks in the post, comfortable working from either block, can make the turnaround J with consistency, and hit shots from beyond the arc.
Walls up defensively very well.

2024 Doryan Onwuchekwa @DoryanChekwa is an interesting big. His size and frame can easily handle other bigs in the paint. Doesn't get pushed around, walls up, and shows he is comfortable in stepping out. #3SSB #3SSBChampionship #PhenomHoops @3SSBCircuit

17U: 2024 6-11 @teamtraeyoungmb F Doryan Onwuchekwa is a nimble big, who can really drive and finish around the rim. He has advanced footwork for his size, nice shooting touch and a lot of grit. Had a team best 19 points in a loss to Indiana Elite. pic.twitter.com/cwzxbBuwHo

Big fella 6’11 Doryan Onwuchekwa (Faith Family HS) has impressed me with his touch and ability to seal defenders for buckets inside. Has worked on his body and mobility, and it shows. #3SSB

Dillon Battie also had a strong weekend, including a big double-double in Team Trae’s 71-68 win over Wildcat Select.

In addition to those 2024 standouts, Carlsheon Young, who has spent the entire year playing a level up as a Class of 2025er on the 17U team, also caught the attention of those in attendance.
2025 Carlsheon Young @Carlsheon_Young is one that Ibe really liked. He has been exceptional in getting downhill, attacking, finishing with body control, and also finding teammates. #3SSB #3SSBChampionship #PhenomHoops @3SSBCircuit @teamtraeyoungmb
