All spring, Team Trae Young’s Girls 17U and 16U teams have proven to be one of the best teams in their region. Their success culminated in a trip to Kansas City for Memorial Day Weekend and the Prep Girls Hoops Dynasty Region Finals.

Both teams dominated play early in the weekend, hurdling toward the bracket championships, and while neither team walked away with the championship, it wasn’t through lack of effort and energy as they both showed the mettle, toughness and skill associated with TTY.

For 17U, their path to the championship match was paved by blowouts. They got a bye into the bracket, and then recorded their biggest win of the year, defeating P.L.U.T.O. Prospects 80-17 in the first round.

They closed out Saturday with another big win, a 53-30 victory over Arkansas Athletes Outreach Flight. And opened Sunday with a similar win, 54-33 over Team Buddy Buckets.

Those wins put them into the Finals against Team Griffin Elite.

It was a hard fought contest that they ultimately lost 49-41. But the team received plenty of recognition and interest from their tremendous efforts throughout the weekend.

The 16U team had a similar run through the tournament, breezing through pool play with a 61-37 win over G.O.C. and a 65-35 win over Texas Cagers Select on Saturday. Kyiah Prestridge, who is having a breakout Spring, was once again the star of the Weekend for TTY.

Skylar Anderson also got a Top Performer nod for her play on Saturday.

Sunday didn’t start the way TTY would’ve hoped, as the dropped their bracket semifinal match 58-55 to Oklahoma Lady Fusion. However they bounced back to finish strong, winning the consolation game 50-49 over Texas Platinum.
