Team Trae Young had a strong showing this past week at the Adidas ASAK Classic in Austin, Texas.
TTY overcame a tough 58-54 loss in their opener to Utah Prospects to win their final three games. They dropped EAB 3SSB by a score of 60-50, pulled out a tight 60-59 win over Max Level Elite, and closed the tournament with a dominant 71-46 victory over ProSkills Austin.
Over the course of the tournament, no one shined more than Rylan Griffen and Ja’Kobe Walter according to Brandon Jenkins of 24/7 Sports.
For Rylan, his 16-rebound effort in the win over EAB was an eye-opener:
Griffen’s upside is all in his body and mindset. As he continues to mature physically and mentally in the game, the sky is the limit.
As for Ja’Kobe, his consistency stood out more than anything to Jenkins.
“Playing up an age group, Walter has looked like the best prospect on Team Trae Young throughout the grassroots season. Nothing changed this past weekend as he buried deep-range jumpers, guarded the ball well, and made the right finds in the open floor… His ability to make shots is why coaches are willing to bet on him long-term.”
